Entry 17: Rest Day New Orleans; The French Quarter Is All Balconies & Shutters // Gator Meat Slaps!
Ok so started my day by sleeping in till 7am! Got myself some beignets, Louisiana's signature confectionery, from Cafe Du Monte
Afterwards I explored New Orleans. Its a grungy kinda town, but theres a beauty in its grunge. Then I explored the famous French Quarter and just like the title of this entry, I wont try to bury the lede. The French Quarter is all balconies and shutters!
We get it French Quarter, you have an architectural preference when it comes to your elevated platforms and window related accouterment.
After I got my fill of balconies and shutters, I got lunch at Cafe Maspero and I finally got my gator meat!
It was tender like pork belly but also succulent like shrimp! I chased it down with a Blue Moon, afterward, I walked my bike around and bought myself a fudge coated marshmallow (sorry my pancreas)
For dinner, I went to Parkway Bakery & Tavern (which was featured on Food Insider) and got myself a gator sausage po' boy (which I chased down with 2 beers and a shot of rye (sorry my liver)).
Man, I really broke the bank today. I spent $5 on breakfast, $24 on lunch, and $30 for dinner. I guess Im gona be eating nothing but McDonald's and homemade biscuits till I get to the next big tourist town (probaly Baton Rouge). Today has been my best rest day yet and its all thanks to that gator meat!
