Entry 37: To The Journey! // Cue The Star Trek Enterprise Opening Theme!
It's been a long road, gettin' from there to here.
(Don't mind the fact that the kickstand is down in this shot)
Whelp, finally made it to grandma's house, I finally crossed the finish line. It was a pretty scenic ride today which I appreciated, seeing that today was the last day of my journey.(little did I know, I would have to ride all the way to the top of that hill in the distance)
I started my trip on a Wednesday and I finished on a Wednesday. It's been 7 weeks to the day, and to be fair, it could've been a lot shorter if I just hopped on a plane. Instead I decided to see a bit of the country that I live in and I haven't regretted a single mile. It could have also been a much longer trip, had I taken my time and avoided renting those cars and taken those trains. But I was burning thru my money much faster, I overpacked to the point where I was hauling too much weight, and I hadn't planned that far in advanced. I definitely made some mistakes, but I'm still proud of making it thru my 1st cross country bike trip.
I had a lot of help from my parents; mom would help me plan each route I'd take and dad would keep me apprised of the weather. My friends and family also helped out by just sending me money which I couldnt appreciate more (I ate pretty well because of them). Actually Auntie Janice and Uncle Hiroshi gave me so much money that I think I might owe them my first born child...and maybe one of my kidneys, they were a great help. Not only did they give me money for food, they treated me out to lunch and dinner when we met up in LA and they even gave me money to pay for a replacement air pump when my other one got swiped.
It would be a diservice to say I did this trip solo cause I really didnt when I consider all the help I got from my family and friends. Anyway if any of them decide to ride their bikes across the country, Ill make sure to pay the money they gave me forward to their trips.
This trip was hard and long (could have been way longer). But it was also fun and memorable and hopefully serves as a good enough answer for when my future employer asks what the hell I was doing during that period of time in-between work during that job interview.
Congratulations Nick!!!!!!
